Kampala Capital City Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding with Buganda kingdom to conduct a city wide community cleanup exercise.

Speaking during the official singing at Bulange Mengo, the city authority Executive Director Jenipher Musisi says the huge size of the city has made garbage collection a big challenge.

She says city dwellers dump garbage in drainage channels, do open defecation and have failed to maintain good hygiene in their homes, putting their lives in danger.

It is against this background that Buganda kingdom’s parish chiefs under “Bulungi Bwansi” are to mobilize their subjects to maintain sanitation in their homestead to ensure a clean city.
