A group of people have today stormed the Buganda King’s Palace in Mengo, with alleged intentions of taking over.

The group is said to have stormed the palace claiming that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is not the eligible king.

The police intervened and arrested 5 people who are being held at Old Kampala Police Station.

This comes at a time when the kingdom is preparing to celebrate the 18th coronation of the Kabaka Ronal Muwenda Mutebi.

Speaking to KFM,the secretary general of the Buganda Ngabo clan Yiga Stephen said they received information on the groups’ intentions but warns that they will not spare anyone who tries to antagonize the kingdom.

He says they are mandated to protect the Buganda kingdom and its cultural cites.

Police remains heavily deployed in and around the palace.
