Buganda kingdom has vowed to oppose any constitutional amendment that will undermine its boundaries or the Kabaka’s position.

Last month government proposed several constitutional amendments including amending Article 26 to legalize compulsory acquisition of land in strategic areas.

While addressing the Buganda Lukiiko this morning Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga has warned that such amendments are likely the spark off clashes between different cultural institutions and the central government.

Mayiga says Buganda kingdom has not been consulted especially on laws governing land ownership.
