Former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya is at the High Court to defend himself in the petition challenging his election as Busiro North MP.

Bukenya was sued by his political rival Caster Bukenya who wants his election nullified over alleged malpractice.

He also accuses the Electoral Commission of confusing his supporters by omitting one of his names on the ballot paper.

It however emerged from cross examination that the names; Caster Hussein, which the Commission used are the ones that appear on the academic documents, which he submitted to qualify for nomination.

Prof. Bukenya won the contested race with 17,382 against 4,953 votes polled by his closest rival.Caster Bukenya alleges that the elections were marred by voter bribery and intimidation and wants fresh polls ordered.

Hearing of the case is before High Court Judge Musoke Kibuuka.
