The petitioner in the case against former Vice President Gilbert Bukenya is being challenged to prove accusations of voter bribery.

Bukenya was sued by his political rival Caster Bukenya who wants his election as Busiro North MP nullified over alleged malpractice.

During cross-examination this morning, Caster Bukenya however said he did not personally witness the voter bribery but was told about the same by his supporters.

He also accuses the Electoral Commission of confusing his supporters by omitting one of his names on the ballot paper.

It however emerged from cross examination that the names; Caster Hussein, which the Commission used are the ones that appear on the academic documents, which he submitted to qualify for nomination.

Prof. Bukenya won the contested race with 17,382 against 4,953 votes polled by his closest rival.

Caster Bukenya alleges that the elections were marred by voter bribery and intimidation and wants the process nullified and fresh polls ordered.

He was cross-examined by Vincent Ogalo and Kiyemba Mutale, who are Prof. Gilbert Bukenya’s lawyers.

Earlier, City advocate Caled Alaka told Court that the petitioner’s witnesses are being intimidated, adding that one of them identified as Emmanuel Tamale disappeared on Friday and hasn’t been seen todate.

Hearing of the case continues before High Court Judge Musoke Kibuuka.
