Cholera cases hit 40

Reporter | May 30, 2014

The number of Cholera cases in Namayingo District has risen to 40.

The death toll remains at two but residents are in fear of possible escalation of the outbreak.

Namayingo RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka says they are yet to establish isolation camps in Nmautumba sub-county to prevent the disease from spreading further.

He adds that a health team from Jinja district has already intervened but the disease is yet to be contained as residents continue to leave in unhygienic conditions.

Cholera broke out in the district early this week with the district leaders blaming it on the poor hygiene in many of the homes.
