Lukwago’s fate could be sealed tomorrow.

Kampala Capital City Authority councilors will tomorrow discuss the tribunal report and vote on a petition that seeks to impeach the lord mayor Erias Lukwago.

The minister in charge of Kampala Frank Tumwebaze called a special council meeting to be held at 9:00am tomorrow, an hour before court rules on a petition seeking to block the mayor’s impeachment.

This meeting comes four days after four councilors of professional bodies were sworn in by city executive director.

However, the Lukwago has described the meeting as an attempt to bar the court from questioning the tribunal report, and that the minister is acting in bad faith, claims he denies.

Last week the lord mayor Erias Lukwago went to court challenging the report by KCCA tribunal that found him guilty of incompetence and abuse of office.

In his application, Lukwago is seeking to block Minister Frank Tumwebaze and all persons under his authority from proceeding with the vote of no confidence against him.

The hearing that is before Justice Yasin Nyanzi is expected the start at 10:00am, an hour after the special council meeting sits to discuss Lukwago’s fate.
