By Abubaker Kirunda

Court has dismissed a petition seeking a vote recount for Jinja city Mayor Seat.

The petition had been filed by the NRM flag bearer Robert Kanusu who lost the seat to Peter Okocha Kasoloan, NUP candidate.

Kanusu in the petition contended that there was ballot stuffing in 22 polling centres in favour of his opponent Kasolo.

However Jinja Jinja Chief Magistrate’s court presided over by Catherine Aguiliro said Kanusu failed to provide enough evidence to defend the petition for a vote recount to take place.

Aguiliro explained that Kanusu first of all accepted the results in the tally center as they were being read from the Declaration forms besides failing to specify the names of the contested polling centers.

She dismissed the petition without costs.
