The Constitutional Court is today expected to give its ruling in the case in which a lawyer is seeking to block the probe into the oil sector by Parliament.
Saverino Twinobusingye, a voter from Kikizi West is challenging the Parliamentary Adhoc Committee set up to probe allegations of corruption against Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and internal affairs minister Hilary Onek.
The committee was set up following accusations of ministers receiving billions in bribes to favor some oil companies against others. Saverino, through his lawyer John Mary Mugisha told court that Parliament could not form a fair and independent committee since the MPS had already condemned the ministers.
He also argued that the house was biased and that the accused ministers were not given opportunity to be heard. He asked court to declare that all acts and resolutions by Parliament against the ministers unconstitutional.
The Attorney General however maintains that the 3ministers appeared before the committee and were heard.
He argued that the ministers were given opportunity to defend themselves and even presented findings from the police, indicating that the supposed documents implicating them were false.
5 justices of the Constitutional Court led by Deputy Chief Justice Alice Mpagi Bahingeine are expected to give their ruling on the matter today.
The ministers have since resisted pressure to step to step down and maintained their innocence.
