Cranes Captain Ibrahim Sekagya has announced his retirement from international football.

His retirement takes effect on 1st March, when he joins Nestroy Kizito who also announced his departure a week ago.

Now playing for Salzburg, Sekagya’s has had an illustrious career and has been a big inspiration for the Uganda Cranes. Born in 1980, he has played for KCC FC, Atletico in Argentina, F.Carril in Argentina, Arsenal also in Argentina and is currently with Salzburg.

Sports analysts say his calm, strong leadership and high level of discipline will be greatly missed by the national team and the country at large.

Below is the message Mr. Sekagya posted on his facebook wall.

I would like to express my appreciation to the well-wishers and fans nationwide for the excellent hospitality, Support and encouragement you have given me during my last several years of stay with the CRANES.

Thank you! really for taking your valuable time out from your busy schedule to always be their to support the CRANES during the good and the bad moments.

I just request you to not give up the spirit am quite optimistic that even in my absence on the pitch with the CRANES, let’s keep up the spirit to support the CRANES as am quite sure on day they will make it.

Not forgetting to thank the FUFA family who have always put in all the necessary efforts they always put in whenever i needed them, All i can say to the Boys(Cranes) is the that “THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES” Its just a relay run.
May the Almighty Guide me through the rest of my career with my Club and May He help the CRANES prospers more and more!
One love to you all !
