Uganda Law Society President Isaac Kimaze Ssemakadde is scheduled to appear before Buganda Road Magistrates Court on Monday morning, facing charges of insulting the modesty of a woman.

On February 10, 2025, Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi declined to issue an arrest warrant for Ssemakadde. This decision followed his lawyers’ explanation that he missed a January 29, 2025, court appearance due to a bad cough.

Instead, Kayizzi extended a criminal summons, requiring Ssemakadde to appear on Monday, February 24, 2025. Failure to appear will result in the issuance of an arrest warrant.

The case originates from derogatory comments Ssemakadde allegedly made about Director of Public Prosecutions Justice Jane Frances Abodo during a symposium on November 18, 2024. These comments led to a private prosecution against him in December 2024.
