Besigye & Lukwago

The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader Dr. Kiiza Besigye has refuted reports that he has been approached by members of the For God and My Country (4GC) pressure group to contest in the city mayoral bi-election.

Besigye says he cannot participate in an illegality since the courts of law have maintained that Erias Lukwago is still the lord mayor.

He says it would even be absurd if the embattled Lord Mayor contested in such and election.

The Electoral Commission has set April 17th as polling day for the city mayoral by election

So far four candidates have been nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.

They are; Peter Sematimba, Meddie Kasule, Fred Kazibwe and Haji Twaha Najja.

The  NRM Electoral Commission is now set to meet the nominated mayoral aspirants to discuss the campaign program.

Dorothy Kisaka, an NRM electoral commissioner confirms that the meeting is on this morning.
