Electoral Commission set for Busia by-election

The Electoral Commission has set January 22nd as polling date for the Busia LC 5 by-election.

Addressing the media this morning, acting Electoral commission chairperson Joseph Biribonwa says the by-election will also be used to fill all vacant position at local council level in the district.

Biribonwa says the whole process that is to cost 479 million shillings will start with nominations on the 3rd and 4th of December after which campaigns will run for 44 days.

Biribonwa cautions candidates against hate speech and calls for tolerance for a free and fair election.

The Busia LC 5 seat fell vacant after the chairperson Adea Ouma was thrown out of office for abuse of office.
