Electoral Commission Vows To Block Illegal Rallies

The Electoral Commission insists it will not allow any presidential candidate to hold public meetings before official campaigns kick off.
The Commission chairman Eng Badru Kiggundu says the law is very clear on campaigns and aspirants who do otherwise will be handled according to the law.
This comes days after the police blocked a public meeting that had been organized by the opposition Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye in Rukungiri town.
Kiggundu says campaigns kick off on November 9th and until then, no aspirant will be allowed to hold meetings.
Meanwhile the commission has dismissed reports that the FDC was the first to book for nomination.
Kiggundu says he has never received any formal communication from the FDC and that only president Museveni and Amama Mbabazi have booked the 3rd of November for nomination.
FDC has accused the commission of bias by giving up their booked time to the incumbent.
