The Forum for Democratic Change has dismissed reports that its flag bearer Dr Kiiza Besigye has stepped down in favor of the Go- Forward candidate and former premier Amama Mbabazi.
Media reports had earlier indicated that after a meeting in the UK, Besigye had agreed to become the Executive Prime Minister while Mbabazi becomes the president in the event that opposition wins the 2016 election.
The party President Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu says though the negotiations are still ongoing for a possible joint candidate, this has not yet decided.
Muntu has also refuted claims that both sides are being coerced by western powers to front a joint candidate against the incumbent president Museveni.
Muntu has further called on both camps to refrain from verbal attacks, since these only serve to divide the opposition supporters.
