FDC wants government to further extend SimCard verification deadline.

The opposition Forum for Democratic Change wants government to further extend the SimCard verification deadline.

This comes a day after government announced that phone users will now have upto May 19^th instead of today the 20^th April to validate their sim card registration using National IDs or risk having them deactivated.

The FDC spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda says setting a one week deadline for the exercise in the first place was a big mistake.

He now says before setting another deadline, government should instead work towards ensuring that all people meant to have national IDs get them.
