admin | October 15, 2015

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Kyadondo East MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda have now been transferred to Kiira Road police station.
These were arrested earlier in two different places.
According to the police deputy spokesperson Polly Namaye, the duo was placed under preventive arrest to avoid possible breach of peace.
Their arrest attracted the attention of UN Human rights officials who went to Naggalama police station in Mukono district where the duo had been detained. The officials were led by Javier San Franciso.
Besigye was arrested this morning as he left his home in Kasangati for FDC mobilization activities.
Besigye’s home has been under siege since last night as he and several party leaders planned to launch offices at Kireka and Mukono, before heading to Jinja and Iganga for other mobilization activities.

Earlier Besigye who was in the company of Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Ekanya said deployment at his home is an abuse of his rights.

In Jinja, KFM’s Abubakar Kirunda reports that the police have fired teargas to disperse supporters of the opposition FDC who had gathered at Kakindu stadium where Besigye was scheduled to hold a public  rally there.

Earlier, Kyaddondo East MP Ibrahim Semuju Nganda was arrested as he left his home in Kirinya for the launch of the FDC offices in Kireka.

FDC Kiira Division chairman, Hussein Lubega says Nganda was arrested together with a journalist, Alfred Ochwo attached to the Observer who was capturing the incident on Camera.

Meanwhile Kiira division DPC JB Serunjogi says the situation is calm and denies reports that Hon Nganda has been arrested.

In a separate development, three people have been arrested at the home of Forum for Democratic Change presidential flag bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye

The trio had gone to visit Besigye whose home has been under siege since last night.

The arrested have been identified as SwaibuMugalu and Sembuusi Godfrey who were riding on motorcycle whose owner has also been arrested.

Meanwhile security remains tight at the Besigye’s home.

The operation there was commanded by Wesley Nganizi, the police commander Kampala North.
