By Moses Kyeyune.

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has been asked to allocate an extra 2.8 billion shillings to its counterpart of East African Affairs, to facilitate mass sensitisation about East African Community.

This according to recommendations contained in the report of parliament’s committee on budget, will facilitate public sensitisation and awareness of the East African Community integration for the benefit of all Ugandans.

The Committee chaired by Ntenjeru North MP Amos Lugoloobi highlighted low public awareness on the integration, especially at the country’s border points.

This, according to the committee, puts Ugandans at a disadvantage in benefiting from the integration process.

The MPs also based their recommendations on limited funds for awareness.
