The Uganda prisons service stack with shortfall of 18 billion of the budget meant for foods.

According to the undersecretary Uganda prison service Simon Kimono, in the current budget 2015-2016, they had budgeted for 50 billion to procured food for inmates, but government gave them only 32 billion.

He explained that currently, the number of inmates is estimated to be over 45,000 across the country, thus the appropriated money can’t feed these inmates with each inmate getting 3,000 per day as expected.
