Hon Jim Muhwezi, Hon Mike Mukula and Dr. Alex Kamugisha

Former health ministers Jim Muhwezi, Mike Mukula and Alex Kamugisha have abandoned their appeal before the Supreme Court, challenging their trial over alleged misappropriation of GAVI funds.

The 3 are charged together with former state house employee Alice Kaboyo over alleged misuse of 1.6billion shillings GAVI funds.

The ministers through their lawyer Bob Kasango today asked the Anti-Corruption Court to try them to pave way for expeditious and speedy trial.
They face charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss.
Their lawyers say the decision has been prompted by the fact that the Supreme Court is not fully constituted as well as their yearning to be cleared.
They appeared before the Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa who ruled that as soon as the withdrawal order is produced before court, the trial will begin.
The case has been adjourned to the 27th Of this month.
