The Inspector General of Police has scoffed at those accusing him of militarizing the police force.

Gen. Kale Kayihura says that the Uganda Police Force can be transformed into a military force whenever need arises.

He says the Police Act spells out that the Ministry of Internal Affairs can at any time call upon the police to be transformed into a military force if there is need.

Ge. Kayihura said this while passing out a group of counter terrorism police in Katakwi district where the area chairman also offered 5 squares miles of land to police to build a counter terrorism center
