Government has expressed commitment to ensure that all Ugandans have access to clean water and sanitation in the near future

This comes as the country joins others around the globe to commemorate the World Water Day .

The World Water day raises awareness of the global water crisis, and a core focus of the observance is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

Speaking to Kfm the acting director in the directorate of water development in the ministry of water and environment Eng Joseph Eyatu said access to water is at 68% and sanitation at 75%.

He however says efforts are underway to ensure all villages yet to be reached get a water source.

The theme of World Water Day 2021 is valuing water.
