A section of human rights activists has criticized the move by government to export graduates for casual labor jobs abroad.
This follows reports that government had entered into a bilateral arrangement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to export graduates to Middle East countries to work as maids.
Speaking to KFM one of the activists and former ethics minister Miria Matembe said this is saddening, accusing government of failing on its part to protect the dignity of its citizens.
However the Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development Pius Bigirimana says the agreement covers not housemaids but other domestic workers like private drivers, shop keepers and security guards. He explains that this is only meant to ease the burden of unemployment.

This comes as government considers reviewing the current laws governing investment to facilitate smooth development of the sector.
The commissioner Financial Services at the Ministry of Finance Steven Kasangaki says what is needed are laws that will not only boost the sector but also address issues of unemployment.
