The Ministry of Education and Sports has extended the deadline for the registration of all learners for the National Identification Numbers (NINs).

This follows an outcry from schools across the country that had failed to beat the September 19 deadline citing network challenges.

In a September 19 circular by the acting permanent secretary at the Ministry of education, Jane Egau Okou, the deadline has been extended by 11 days to enable heads of schools to capture and upload data for all learners. She says that the new deadline is September 30.

The Ministry has also directed schools that had submitted their senior one and two learner’s information in hardcopies or by email to resubmit through the EMIS portal.

The data from schools will be shared with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) for the purpose of learners’ verification and processing of their NINs.
