By Ritah Kemigisa.

The Finance minister Matia Kasaija has revealed that government is going to blacklist individual procurement officers found engaging in corruption, violating the professional ethical code and breaking procurement procedures.

Speaking at a bidder’s convention, Kasaija saidpublic procurement officers who make procurement plans that fall short of the accepted standards after getting bribes and kickbacks are partly responsible for the country’s economic woes.

He adds that blacklisting is aimed at regulating and instilling discipline among procurement officers in a bid to improve transparency in public bidding and tendering processes.
