Government has warned the opposition against plans to hold parallel independence celebrations.

According to the FDC independence schedule, the party is set to hold celebrations from on 7th and 8th at kira municipality and Kawempe which are to be crowned on the 9th October at Katwe .

Addressing journalists at media centre the state minister for presidency Hon Esther Ambayo said that independence celebrations are national and strictly organised by government.

She said the government has already instructed the police to deal with any one who will attempt to organize parallel cerebrations across the country.

However the party deputy secretary general Herold Kaijja said that the party cerebrations still stand regardless of such threats.

This year’s 54th independence anniversary is slated to take place in Luuka district under the theme, “Protection of our Independence through Promotion of Patriotism, Unity and Hard Work”.
