Human Rights defenders say measures announced to curb the current insecurity in the country are long term and cannot solve the insecurity problem.

This comes a day after President pointed out 9 measures government is to undertake to address the insecurity in the country

The chief executive officer of the human rights network Uganda Mohammed Ndifuna says, the country requires immediate solutions which can be used to end the current trend of insecurity.

Addressing journalists at the organisations offices, Ndifuna said the measures fronted by the president must be audited by human rights defenders to ensure that they do not infringe on the people’s rights.

He also proposes that government disbands all militia groups that have been reported to be agents of crime in the country.
