Museveni on IDs

The issuance of National IDs may have been launched but not started in many parts of kampala.

In all parishes we have been to, people who came to pick their cards have been turned away.

These include Mengo parish 1 and 2, Kisenyi public among others.

One of the enrollment officers identified as Peter Angumizamu says they have been told to wait until next week when the cards will be delivered to parishes.

Angumizamu says that for any person to receive an ID they will be required to produce the registration form, with their name appearing on the list displayed at the office.

However Spokesperson in charge of the ID project, Paul Bukenya says that issuance kicked off in only the central division and will roll out in other divisions next week.

The president on Tuesday launched the issuance of IDS asking Ugandans to go to their parishes for IDS beginning Wednesday this week.
