The Inspectorate of Government has finalized investigations into the fraud case against minister without portfolio Abraham Byandala.
The IGG’s Representative Thomas Okoth has informed Anti-corruption Court Grade One magistrate Julius Borore that investigations in this matter are complete.
The case has now been adjourned to 28th Sept, when he will be committed to the High Court for trial.
The Magistrate said this court has no jurisdiction to hear such a case since a huge sum of money amounting to over 24 billion was lost.
The offences were allegedly committed when Byandala was still the minister for works and transport.
Byandala and five former officials of the Uganda National roads Authority are facing charges that include abuse of office, and causing government financial loss.
The charges arose from Byandala’s decision to award a contract for the upgrading of Kyetume, Nyenga- Katosi road to a US firm Eutaw that lacked capacity to do the work.
Byandala is further accused of defying IGG’s orders of halting works in the said road.
