The minister of finance Matia Kasaija has threatened not to allocate funds to all government ministries and departments that  do not meet the 50% pass mark of  gender and equity budgeting.

This follows the recent ministerial policy statements for financial year 2017/2018 assessment by equal opportunities that found out that 40% of government institutions failed to meet the 50% pass mark set by parliament.

According Kasaija he will also not award gender and equity certificates to institutions that will not meet the requirements of the public finance management act 2015 which requires all government institutions to address gender and equity issues in their budget formulation.

A Certificate of compliance is always ensued by the Ministry of finance in consultation with equal opportunity Commission to certify that budget paper frameworks and ministerial policy statements are gender and equity responsive before they passed to parliament for approval.
