The National Housing and Construction Corporation has agreed to compensate residents of Kasokoso before the planned redevelopment projects can kick off.
This in response to a directive by Parliament’s Committee on Infrastructure after residents petitioned the committee seeking an order to stop their eviction.
Government through the corporation plans to upgrade Kasokoso which sits on over two hundred ninety acres of land valued at fifty six billion shillings housing an estimated ten thousand people.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer Parity Twinomujuni says the 7-year redevelopment plan will only start after negations with all stakeholders including residents and local leaders.
