By Samuel Ssebuliba:

As Kenya prepares for the historic presidential election re-run slated for 17 October this year, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been asked to close all gaps that may spark concern from candidates.

The call comes after the opposition candidate Raila Odinga raised several concerns over the current electoral body calling for the resignation of its chairman Wafula Chebukati whom he accuses of robbing him of his election victory last month.

Speaking to KFM, Crispy Kaheru the coordinator Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda says this commission must take all precautionary measures to avoid any leakage of results.

He said that this election will determine the fate of peace in Kenya and the entire East African region.

This comes a day after the Chief Executive of Kenya’s electoral commission Ezra Chiloba was replaced by his deputy Marjin Hussein.

On Tuesday, the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati announced a new six-man team that will manage the October 17th fresh presidential election.
