Kfm radio to unveil Olina Ekitone talent search winner next Friday

admin | October 16, 2015

KFM will next Friday unveil the winner of the one-month Super Talent Search. The search, which started at the beginning of last month, aims at getting the next radio star on KFM.

The search, which started with 640 contestants, saw each person send voice notes through Whatsapp. Those who did not meet the preferred choice were then eliminated by Judges Ben Mwiine and Joseph Beyanga to 23 people.

“The reason KFM chose to get a new presenter in a talent search rather than the usual recruiting is because we want our listeners to have a chance to choose their own presenter,” KFM Programmes Director Joseph Beyanga said.

He added that the winner from the search will go through training and orientation before they start presenting a show which will be decided by the KFM management.

According to Mwine, the talent search coordinator, the 23 people who were chosen went through voice testing in the KFM studios and 10 made it to the final.

“The 10 people who were chosen will go through a voting process with which one with the highest votes will emerge winner,” Mwine said, adding that the winner will be unveiled in an event whose location is yet to be established. At the event, the contestants will mix and mingle with all KFM radio presenters.

Different presenters out of the 10 are always chosen to present the last one hour of D’mighty breakfast. This is to give them confidence and chance for listeners to know who they are going to vote for.

He said all the top 20 winners got training so that even if they did not win, they will have the skills of a radio presenter, after all they showed their potential in radio presenting.
Voting will not stop as it will go on until the day before the unveiling.

To vote for your favourite presenter, type KFM, the number of the contestant and send to 6933.
