Kasese Woman MP Winnie Kiiza has blamed President Museveni for the ongoing clashes in the district saying he is punishing the locals for not voting NRM in the February 2016 elections.

In an exclusive interview with our sister paper Daily Monitor; Kiiza who is also the Leader of Opposition in Parliament says Museveni is solely responsible for the current situation because he started creating other kingdoms within the obusinga bwa rwenzururu.

She says by doing this, he antagonized the Bakonzo and Bamba and it was a setup for the people.

She has also denied allegations of the existence of a rebel group in the area arguing that if such a group exists, then the government must deal with it instead of attacking their cultural leader Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere.

In 2014, over 90 people died in similar attacks in the districts of Kasese, Bundibugyo and Ntoroko. The government said the deaths were a result of tribal clashes.

You can read the full Interview in today’s Daily Monitor.
