The staff of Kyambogo University has described vice chancellor’s push for renewal of his contract as an insult and a big joke.

The vice chancellor Prof Isaiah Omolo Ndiege wrote to council early this week expressing his interest in the position with just weeks to the expiry of his contract.

One of the lecturers Robert Ojambo says Ndiege is ineligible for the position and his attempts might lead to a fresh strike at the university.

Ojambo has now called on the university council to consider the plight of the students who might be affected during examinations.

Last year the university saw a series of strikes by lecturers who were protesting the return of Prof. as Vice Chancellor. Ndiege had earlier been suspended by the university council over alleged corruption and mismanagement of the university affairs but he was cleared by the High Court in Nakawa, which paved the way for his return.
