A Police officer said to have leaked confidential recordings involving the chief of police has been charged.

Ronald Poteri who is attached to the Electoral and Political Crimes department was charged with wrongful communication and leaking information.

Prosecution led by Lillian Omara alleges that Poteri in March 2014 at CID headquarters in Kampala, passed on official secrets entrusted to him to un-authorized persons.

Poteri appeared before Buganda road court chief magistrate Olive Kazarwe who remanded him to Luzira prison until the 7th of May for plea taking.

Poteri’s lawyers however filed an application contesting the charges against their client on grounds that he was detained for more than 48 hours contrary to the constitution.
