Owino fire 1

City lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has blamed the frequent market fires on lack of a fully functional physical planning structure at the city authority.

This was during his tour of the Park Yard market which was razed by a fierce fire that destroyed goods worth millions of shillings yesterday.

Lukwago has also thanked government for the one billion shilling contribution towards reconstruction of the market, but asked that it be increased to at least 4bn to make a significant impact on the devastated traders.

He has reassured the traders of his support and asked them not to despair and turn to things like witchcraft but put their trust in God.
