Just days after the Entebbe State House meeting officials from the SPLM rebel group have dismissed media reports that they have struck an agreement to join the government.

In a press statement signed by SPLM National Information Committee chairperson Mabior Garang De Mabior, the proposals by President Yoweri Museveni and Omar Bashir of Sudan are not official.

The group loyal to rebel leader Riek Machar also states that they rejected the proposals as they only focused on accommodation of politicians, while ignoring the radical reforms needed to effect in fundamental change in South Sudan.

The statement further states that the rebel group will remain focused on the fundamentals and their aspirations will not be betrayed.
