Independent Presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi has maintained his stand on oil agreements insisting that they were never tabled before cabinet for discussion.
The former premier has often pinned his former boss President Museveni for individually signing and completing all oil agreement under the pretext of the confidentiality clause as provided for in the Oil and Gas Act.
Mbabazi says that even when errant “rebel MPs” Theodore Sekikubo and Gerald Karuhanga raised the matter earlier, cabinet was denied access to the comprehensive oil deals.
However, the NRM has rubbished the former premier’s describing them as baseless, adding that if anything went wrong under his watch as then leader of govt business he should take the blame.

In a seperate development, Mbabazi has promised safe exit for the NRM Flag bearer Yoweri Museveni after the Feb 18th elections.
While campaigning in Lyantonde on Monday, Mbabazi revealed that one of the reasons Museveni has failed to relinquish power is fear and uncertainty about his life after elections.
The former premier however says that just like Tanzania’s former president the late Julius Nyerere and Arap Moi of Kenya, Museveni should be confident and accept the olive branch even after his long stay in office.
Mbabazi’s promises come shortly after other candidates, FDC’s Kizza Besigye and Dr. Abed Bwanika gave the same assurance to Uganda’s longest serving president.
