In a move meant to improve articulation of the English language, Pepea Initiative Africa in partnership with Monitor Publications Ltd has launched the East Africa Spelling Bee.

Officiating at the launch in Kampala this morning, the State Minister for Primary Education, Rosemary Sseninde said the campaign will help improve the children’s confidence, speech and articulation.

She has pledged commitment to supporting such initiatives meant to boost education at the lower level as well as improving literacy levels in East Africa.

According to Pepea Initiative Africa Executive Director Anthony Kenshuri, the spelling bee competitions will be held at national level to select 10 participants from each East African country for the final event slated May 10th.

He has asked parents to help their children with spelling tasks that will be in the Rainbow magazine published in the Daily Monitor every Tuesday.

The Spelling Bee competition is organized in partnership with Spell It Right, MPK, Monitor Publications Ltd, Fresh Dairy and NTV.
