Legislators have demanded that the Ministry of Public Service looks for funds to clear retirement perks for past leaders.

The Public Service and Local Governments committee this morning tabled its report on the ministerial policy statement on the two sectors, in which they recommended that the ministry clears the arrears which total about 7 billion shillings.

Kigulu South MP, Milton Muwuma says it is unfair for the past leaders, including the former Vice Presidents, Dr. Specioza Kazibwe and Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, to keep chasing for their emoluments yet there is a law that provides for their entitlements.

The State Minister for Public Service, Ssezi Mbaguta explained to the House that their payments are being made, except for the housing and vehicles which will be made this financial year.
