The Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Mr Mathias Mpuuga on Tuesday asked opposition MPs to defy committee chairpersons who attempt to throw them out of committee meetings because they are boycotting plenary sittings, saying such decisions are illegal and lacking in common sense.

This is after Speaker Anitah Among’s order to bar opposition lawmakers from committee meetings, started on staggering footing yesterday amid questions about its legality.

Mpuuga has now called on the committee chairpersons to desist from attempting to enforce what is unenforceable.

“I have spoken to so many chairpersons of committees and they are sounding extremely reasonable, so I don’t know what had become of my brother Fox Odoi, probably he was foxing himself, that is why I advised my members to ignore his irregular instructions,” said Mpuuga.

He says they will not challenge the Speaker’s directive in the courts of law but shall defy it.
