The Leader of Opposition, Mr Mathias Mpuuga has asked current leaders to copy and live the legacy of fallen former minister, Henry Kyemba.

This was during Tuesday’s parliamentary session where the House paid tribute to the late for the great services he rendered to the country.

Mpuuga said that it is rare to find a leader of high morals, and integrity in this era like the late Kyemba.

The motion to pay tribute to  Kyemba was moved by the Fist Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga and was seconded by the whole House.

The motion recognized the works of the late right from the constitutional assembly until he resigned from public service.

“Despite having held positions of influence, Kyemba too knew adversity, as many Ugandans across time have. In 1977, he lost his brother at the hands of the regime he had served under. He faced personal insecurity and once took a bullet that was meant to assassinate the President. As a government protagonist in his book ‘A State of Blood’ and having served as a government protagonist in his own book, the late Minister is a testament that we have very many Kyembas waiting to happen soon, which is more reason we should tread carefully,” Mpuuga said.

Kyemba died last week on Thursday, October 19 at the age of 84.

He served as the private secretary to Apollo Milton Obote and Idi Amin Dada, a minister of health, Justice, Attorney General, State Minister for Presidency, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, a member of the constituent assembly that made the 1995 constitution, and a member of the sixth parliament of Uganda.
