Senior presidential adviser on political affairs, Moses Byaruhanga has defended the numerous agencies created by the president to fight corruption.
During Labor Day celebrations in Namutumba on Monday, President Museveni promised to set up yet another anti-corruption unit at State House to deal with public officials extorting money from investors.
Once created, the new unit will join two other parallel organs under State House including the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and the Health Monitoring Unit.
The revelation however drew fierce criticism from some sections of civil society, many questioning the essence of having a long list of constitutional bodies to fight corruption like the Inspectorate of Government (IG), Auditor General, Parliament, Judiciary, and police, yet the vice still persists.
Speaking to KFM, Byaruhanga said all anti-graft units have successful stories with the latest being the State House Anti-Corruption Unit which exposed government officials behind the diversion of iron sheets meant for the Karamoja community empowerment programme.
