A team of officials from various ministries will this week camp in Teso sub region to conduct a verification exercise on the names of beneficiaries of the cattle compensation project.

Addressing the media in Soroti town, Henry Oluka an official from the office of the Attorney General said that an estimated 60,000 names are to be scrutinized.

Meanwhile in some parts of Serere district, most of the claimants says they have lost their documented figures and records of animals claimed, making it hard to prove they are the rightful beneficiaries.

A group of Teso leaders including Kasilo MP Elijah Okupa, Julius Ocen, former Amuria district chairperson dragged government to court demanding for compensation of cattle and property lost during the insurgency in late 80s.
