Ndejje University closed over student strike

Reporter | November 20, 2014

Ndejje University main campus in Luweero district has been closed indefinitely over a student strike.

This has been confirmed by the police spokesperson Savanah Region Lameck Kigozi.

The students are protesting a decision by the university management to increase the functional fees.

According to one of the student leaders only identified as Amanda, the registrations fees have been hiked from 100,000 to 200,000 while retake fees have been increased from 50,000 to 100,000 shillings.

This comes just a day after Nkumba University was also closed indefinitely after a three-day violent student strike.
