The ministry of health has ruled out an outbreak of cholera in Adjumani refugee camp.

The ministry spokesperson Rukia Nakamatte says there is no cause for alarm, saying the panic came after a case of dysentery was reported, but this has also been contained.

Meanwhile, Uganda today joins the rest of the world to mark the world menstrual hygiene day.

The day being commemorated for the first time in Uganda acts as an occasion to address the challenges and hardships many women and girls face during menstruation, and also highlights the positive and innovative solutions being put in place to address these challenges.

It also serves as a catalyst for a growing, global movement that recognizes and supports girls’ and women’s rights.

And as part of events to commemorate the day, various organisations with support from the ministries of health, education and water and environment have organized an advocacy walk from city square to parliament.

The theme of the day is “break the silence: Join the discourse on menstrual Hygiene Management”
