Nodding disease victim

The ministry of health has released the progress report on nodding disease showing great achievements.

The report released this morning indicates that since 2012, only 11 deaths have been registered, 3,320 cases have been identified and treated, with no new cases reported since then.

Speaking to the media, health minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda said 124 surveillance officers have been trained to comb the northern region for any new cases with 7 treatment centers put in place.

He explained that with the joint efforts from the Uganda government and the Center for disease control, he is optimistic that the disease will soon be fully contained.
