NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) has disqualified 21 party members from the East African Legislative Assembly race after they expressed interest to contest for the seat to replace the late Mathias Kasamba.

Only 5 members have been selected to contest for this seat even though the number could still drop in case an agreement is reached on a single candidate before the election slated for Friday this week by the Parliamentary NRM caucus.

The Director Communications at the NRM Secretariat Emmanuel Lumala Ddombo says those in the race as Nakato Kyabangi, Godfrey Kiwanda, James Kakooza, Lule Mawiya and the late Kasamba’s personal assistant Abas Mutumba.
