The NRM party chairperson of Mukuju Sub County in Tororo district has been arrested for alleged embezzlement of funds meant to facilitate the party conferences in villages.

George Oputo was arrested yesterday with two other sub-county registrars after they failed to produce accountability to the NRM national deputy treasurer Dr. Kenneth Omona.

Omona who is traversing the country to address alleged mismanagement of the party resources said the money was supposed to have been used to buy refreshments for the party supporters during the display of the party registers.

He says arresting these officials is aimed at bringing sanity and order in the party and instilling discipline among the party members.

On Monday over 100 village registrars matched on the streets of Tororo town protesting under payment during the display of the NRM party registers last Friday.
